IS RICCARDO TISCI DOING A GREAT JOB AT BURBERRY?

When Riccardo Tisci has arrived at the Burberry it was really a big sensation. With the strong visual impact that Tisci has, it was really a pure excitement to see how his design visions for Burberry will look like. With the first collection, he re-set the original Burberry aesthetic that was more on the classic side nurturing the tradition of this big British brand. With the second one, Pre-Fall 2019 he has emerged more as the individual designer who has turned the already known Burberry style to another level. In the other words, this collection was in the pure Tisci spirit.

The smart and good tailoring that considers fluid and soft forms and that is a must when we talk about Burberry was a starting point of this collection. The trenchcoat at its modern version this time was dispersed into the sleek and structured coats or capes. The one thing that was so Burberry was the color and the leather lines that followed the stitches. The rest was all new and innovative design with the high element of the luxurious refinery!

Seems like the fluent and easy-going lines were definitely something that was a guideline and inspiration for Riccardo Tisci for this collection. The wide pants with the cashmere lightness, the cotton soft coat on the top have introduced a mellow chic into the world of Burberry. As the collection went on the structure imperative has really toned down and capitulated in the form of the silky blouses and light glamour in the dresses. But the extravagant pulse was set in the form of puffers jackets with the big logos and Burberry famous prints. They were formed as the uber size stolas or, again, the capes and just that has brought the innovative spirit to the traditional Burberry design.

Seems that the aesthetic that was built around this item was the turning point, the juxtaposition of this collection. For Burberry is all about the trenchcoats, but for Tisci seems that he likes the idea of (re)building the focus of that, the variations that correspond more on the chic and classic side with the edgy assertive note. With the mix of soft and delicate textures like in this collection with the more structured and robust volumes seems like Riccardo Tisci builds the new aesthetic of Burberry. Respecting the house and the legacy of it, but introducing some innovations. And they will be even more present in the future collections, no doubt to that!

THE NATURE OF STYLE DECONSTRUCTION BY MAISON MARGIELA

In fashion, the rules are there to be broken or at least avoided. Style directions that are recognizable and in the cognitive collective mind archived sometimes need to be boosted with some edginess and some new aesthetic. To push the boundaries of the familiar perception is something for what John Galliano´s design is known for. The controversial persona that he is seems to be so well embodied in his aesthetic and his design. So when you see his work you know that it would be a total "mish-mash" of everything you have known about the fashion.

This spirit of the conscious decadence is something that has been so reliable in Maison Margiela. With John Galliano as the creative director and creator, this fashion label has established that "avant-garde" spirit. The experimental nature of the Margiela style was nothing else different in the latest Spring/Summer 2019 Ready To Wear collection. If you are someone that knows a little about Margiela design, you know that the deconstruction is the main constructive direction. The nihilistic approach to the already known fashion rules and do´s and don´ts is something that has been a must in the Margiela house. This step from the already known aesthetic towards the new and totally new one that is still classic but with the edgy spin, that is the perfect description of this collection.

The one classic piece that John Galliano likes to play with is definitely the coat. With this item, he can easily show how the nature of the deconstruction really works. The illusion of the unfinished, of the pretentiously wrong, the conscious of ultimate malfunction of the classic cannons like forgetting the sleeves or detaching them into the totally unexpected concept. The idea of sketches that have brought into the final fashion product like leaving the white charcoal lines on the fabrics.

But if we dig a little bit more and look closely the spirit of deconstruction as "Fata Morgana-Icly" edited fashion story where the most amazing pieces are hidden. The gorgeous tops with the romantic ruffles, the golden-ish textured brocade trousers, and blouse. The ethereally magnificent long dress made of sheer chiffon. The simple and purely classic trenchcoat in light pink, or the Margiela version of Le Smoking in all black with the masculine spin on the form and voluminosity. The edgier pieces were the dress made of nylon attachments in gentle blue and jacket with the puffy scarf just to add the undertone of typical Margiela at the very end!

This collection has shown how fashion tradition is broken, re-designed into something new. Of course, the edgy and controversial spirit of it is not everyone´s choice and for some people used to the ultra-conventional fashion vibes, this collection will be a pass. But if you are looking for something original yet concrete and well done this collection is for you! Breaking the perspective of the known this collection is definitely for the brave ones. Others can choose more classic pieces which in this collection were presented too!

THE NEO-VICTORIAN CHIC BY ALEXANDER McQUEEN

The modern spin on the Victorian aesthetic is something that has become a common design trace when we talk about the design of Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. The light dramatic touch combined with the ultra-rich but still, wearable ensembles could be summed up like the creative strive for the current McQueen style. That concept of the neo-romantic, neo-vintage and easy mellow edginess is something that has become a trademark of Sarah Burton´s signature. If you add to that the flora and fauna motifs that have also become a standard in her design visionary we have got the perfect collection that speaks a story with the fashion depth in an unpretentious way.

That heterogenic but yet so the mono-polished vibe was on the sight in the latest Resort 2019 collection. The first look made of a rock-chic version of the motor-bike jacket which rebellious art was toned down with the wide ruffle around the waist. Seems that ruffles will be the big thing in this collection. The last two outfits of this collection have corresponded perfectly to that. The long gowns with the micro-ruffles textures allured the high-glamorous effect that could be matched up for the impeccable red carpet look.

But in the middle of the edginess of the motor-bike piece and the tons of ruffles, there were captured the strong silhouetted dresses with the corset on the top just to bold up the structured and the sleek touch of it. Although underneath there was the cascade of the fabrics waves, the whole picture was very assertive and suspended. Seems like Sarah Burton adores clean and defined modes and forms so she builds her aesthetics on the terms of the good architect precise cut. But yet all look so romantic and feminine pure with the spirit of some old times captured and brought in the modern kind of way.

For example the cute mini-dresses. They looked like the young sisters of the already mentioned structured story. The star of the collection is probably the deconstructed dress-meets-Le Smoking ensemble. The ruffly corset and the sleek trousers look like the modern look of the Victorian heroine. The concept of the traditional and archaic beauty has toned totally in the witty and edgy style brought with the statement opulent jewelry that will be IT thing again after the fine and tiny ones that have been on the trend lately.

This collection has shown the ultimate design strive by Sarah Burton. She has definitely envolved her style mark and her recognizable design. The romantic approach with the cool and contemporary twist is something she likes. She also likes the story-telling textures, so she always serves them on the fabrics that give another deep and heterogenic face to her design. Everything is so stunning, archaic yet modern, mainstream yet original. And we simply love it!

IS BALENCIAGA THE TRENDIEST FASHION NAME RIGHT NOW?

If there is one fashion label that is everywhere these days, that dictates the pulse of the streetwear giving it that extra dope vibe is definitely Balenciaga! Any "Influencer" on the social media that knows what a good "style" is, has at least captioned one photo with the famous Balenciaga item. That is not a coincidence. Balenciaga consciously builds the design that is caught mostly in the casually themed horizon but still looks fashionable "Scharf" and on point. The catch is in the famous Balenciaga silhouette that the leading designer Demna Gvasalia has been converted into the smart version of the streetwear with the chic accents and that whisp of extraordinary!
 
To see what the current Balenciaga is all about we could see in the latest Resort 2019 collection. The logo mania which in Balenciaga case comes in the exaggerations to indulge the artistic concept of it all. The logo perpetuation, in this case, comes more like a denunciation of it, giving the contra-effect. Sometimes more is simply enough, and in Balenciaga, they are aware of that. The opulence was not only in the terms of the logos but in the forms too. Baggy coats, jackets, and big voluminous tote bags. All of that too-much effect has perfectly captioned the ongoing trend that could be seen everywhere.

But what is interesting is that this collection is all about the classic. There were not any sports item. The dresses were brought in the more silhouetted and sleek concept. With the pointy elegant shoes, the chic factor was on the right level. The refined textures, the low key coloristic solutions, the layerings factor as one of the stylistically highlights, the concept of the colors-blocking as well as the monochromatic volume!

Everything was in the mission of good high fashion with the huge casual and edgy factor. the edginess was in the new accessorize, the nylon-look alike bag. This item sums up perfectly what today Balenciaga is all about, an extraordinary style with the imperative of being easily accessible! And that is what is the current style strive in Balenciaga and they are all about that!
