THE NEO-INTROVERTED COUTURE BY VIKTOR & ROLF

The last collection by Viktor & Rolf for Fall 2019 Haute Couture was a totally different kind of visual juxtaposition. The inspiration was on the moody side with the opulent textures that appeared like a fabricated wool-hybrids. And this collection was a totally heterogenic aesthetic than the previous ones. The lack of vibrant chromatic solutions that are so essential for Viktor & Rolf design in this collection was so present. It seems that this collection was more on the story-telling side with the large introspective and introverted vibes.

This only shows how the idea that is the main "Spiritus Movens" or "Alpha and Omega" of every creative action and, especially in the context of Haute Couture, is so important. Not to mention the final result that comes in the collection. This one was opened by the dark-illuminated two-line-buttons coat a.k.a gown in the Tim Burton kind of mannerism. The dark opulence was enhanced with the extravagant makeup and edgy hair. The deep nocturnal kind of spirit was on the line with the next two ensembles. The same coat-dress with the cinched waist or the cascade of the three capes falling down in the more voluminous kind of form.

The big collars and overalls were there a must. The one thing that was kept vivid were the prints sequences. From the "Kinder"-drawing alike ones referring to the forest nocturnal motifs like the stars and moon to the floral and other flora and fauna ones, mashed with the graphic interruptions. These ones were brought in the context of the more vibrant colors that allure and invite to the step of the glamorous story. As the collection was going to the end, the fabrics were in the same collision as the colors. They have become lighter, satin sleek and ethereal.

This collection was definitely something new from what we used to see in the Viktor & Rolf fashion edition. Seems that with every collection they go in other kind direction, alluring the thing that has become so quintessential to their design Couture vision. And that is to tell a story, be bold and still keep their fashion signature! And they have done it successfully!

What do you think about this Fall 2019 Couture collection? Do you like the aesthetic of it? Which ensemble do you find the most interesting?

ETHNIC COUTURE BEAUTY BY DOLCE & GABBANA

Ethnic beauty is something that in the fashion sense Dolce & Gabbana are the ultimate fans when it comes to the aesthetics. We all know their fascination with their Sicilian roots that have become an essential part of their fashion expression. That "national vibe" has even more undertoned when it comes to their Haute Couture collections. The visuals are more traditional with the stunning rural prints and motifs. This segment and "Ethos" is definitely something that Dolce & Gabbana are so fond of, even if they step further to their roots.

The search for the roots could definitely be the theme by which the latest Fall 2019 Haute Couture was inspired by. This time the orientation was on the cradle of the whole West Civilization, the Antic Greek´s culture. The silhouette and the forms were typically in Dolce & Gabbana-Alta Moda style, very opulent and voluminous with the plenty of drama. The real spectacle too was on the materials. The Ancient Greek mosaics and frescoes were dominantly presented this time.

The motifs were inspired by the sculptures and the wall paintings that were transferred into the fabric prints, almost in the restaurateur alike kind of way, from the golden embroideries onto the black embellished canvas to the all-white versions that looked like an ethereal D&G goddess. Of course, there were by togas inspired ensembles too. The long cape easy falling on the top of the more casual version of cocktail-dresses.

This collection showed once again the eclectic spirit for which Dolce & Gabbana are so famous. They still have that same designer DNA, and they still bring the most exciting collections when it comes to the concept of Haute Couture! If anyone knows how to cherish their tradition, it is definitely D&G-Alta Moda! Modern yet historically interesting!

What do you think about this collection? Do you like the motifs that were showed and which dress do you like the most?

ALBERTA FERRETTI TAKES A NEW STYLE DIRECTION

Alberta Ferretti is all about the high aesthetic all the way. From the light and gentle materials to the more light concept of the coloristic spectrum, Alberta Ferretti has established her name for the synonym of the classic elegance with the modern spin. Yet the last Fall 2019 Haute Couture collection was a step further and definitely something new.

The collection was presented in the limited edition of twenty ensembles in the form of the simple editorial. The juxtaposition was on the clothes that this time appeared rather bolder and brave. The heterogenic approach and in that sense the innovation for Alberta Ferretti was in the context of the textures. This time they were more opulent and monumental with the satin as the main texture occupation. This choice not only indicates the changes in the nature of the fabrics but it dictates a totally new approach to the form.

The first look of the collection was all about that. The massive and voluminous silhouette that looked rich and glamorous yet at some Alberta Ferretti kind of style, very approachable and fresh. The balloon-sleeves were there to enhance the gorgeous almost royal alike opulence. Yet, the elegant naked backs were there to ensure the high-polished imperative that Ferretti still adores. This warm-golden dress was definitely a highlight and the perfect introduction to this collection.

Elegance in all its features is something in Alberta Ferretti take much care about. So fringed blouse on the top of the wider trousers looked classy and effortless. Just as the same as the mini-dress in the same fringed variation. The flirty note here was brought to emphasize the modern approach to the collection and to make it more interesting for the young consumers. And, for the total glam-up, there were sweeping-floor lengthed gowns in the chiffon mannerism giving us that famous and known Alberta Ferretti sense!

This collection was definitely an innovative punch to something new and it has done successfully. Ensuring us that this season the Haute Couture collections have had plenty of new visual directions and this collection is definitely one of them!

What are your thoughts about this collection? Do you find it interesting? Which look do you think is the best?

THE WIND OF CHANGE IN FENDI

It is definitely a new period for Fendi. Since the late Karl Lagerfeld who was the leading creative director in his footsteps has come the owner of this famous Italian fashion brand. Silvia Venturini Fendi was not an outsider by any mean, she was very in touch with the aesthetic by Karl Lagerfeld so to continue where he left was something of the familiar area. But still, the challenge was there and even for the collection for Fall 2019 Haute Couture.

This collection was a second one in the creative direction by Ms. Venturini Fendi and, although the  Fendi drive was there, still there was the aesthetic that was a little different. The step further was done in the textures that in this collection, were more heterogenic and opulent. Yet, the famous Fendi luxurious touch was there and the high glamorous refinery too.

The first look was definitely something new for Fendi if we talk and think in the concept of Haute Couture. The white ensemble featured by the wide trousers and coat with the balloon sleeves was the more approachable fashion vision of Fendi style. The very feminine spirit was kept on the dresses that this time was in the gown length and drama. There were also more sleek silhouettes that looked in the texture sense very opulent and direct.

If for anything this collection was excited, that were the textures. From the furry stripes, pierced leather, marble prints, and mosaic-tiles alike. The spectrum was really wide and that was the beauty of this collection. Brave, a light at some moments like those organza dresses, the heterogenic spirit is something that in the house of Fendi has got a further upgrade to the more diverse beauty and fashion. It is something Fendi fans will love and the new possible consumers will not stay immune at its charm!

What are your thoughts on this collection? Do you see the change the Fendi style and design in the latest two collections?
