CRITERIAS FOR GOOD HAUTE COUTURE

Hello my gorgeous fashion people! In today´s post I decided to say few things about criterias I personally look in haute couture design. I am not fashion expert (I have master degree in literature) but I have my own personal things I look in couture. So I will share them to you! I think, although I am not an expert just fan and enthusiast who loves fashion, that my opinion matters at least to me. :)

1.) Good Tayloring
When we talk about haute couture the most important thing is "back to the basic"! By that I mean great, impecable tayloring is very important. Designer can have amazing imaginative ideas but if their realization is poor, than the final finish not so good. Don´t forget that the best couturier ever, Alexander McQueen had excellent taylor skills. And because of that he created the best couture pieces ever.

2.) Great Materials
The choice of textures of the couture ensembles is very important. Silk is not just oridinary silk, chiffon is not just ordinary chiffon. Designer has to have the eye for amazing materials in textures sense. And perfectly incorporate them in form which he desirees. For example, flowy dress with light silhouettes can not be made by heavy material such as velvet. Those are just few examples which can affect in final visual finish.

3.) Concrete Inspiration
There are so many collections which are inspired by so many different things such as historical point of view, exotic cultures, artistic flare influenced by theatar or ballet, or maybe pop culture. All of those ideas have to be perfectly incorporated in haute couture vision. If inspiration is on point than nothing can go wrong.

4.) Manifestation Of Colors
Haute couture is part of visual arts, so colors have very important input to it. It is that final part which defines the couture piece. If designer wants to have edgy and more serious and dark approach to his fashion creations, he will go for more colors that are in range of black, not vibrant at all. If he wants to create a joyful and very elegant ensembles with feminine touch, he will reach for more vivid colors like red, rose, green..the spectrum is very wide. All of that will make the perfect final touch.

5.) Wearable Or Not
To me personally haute couture is art and not all of couture ensembles, although they remain in fashion not art domain, they do not have to be wearable. In haute couture the word is about release that inner beast of designer imagination, making the most fantastic and outragious gowns. Who cares if the next time we see them are in museums like very expensive but "bow down" exponates. To me haute couture is place where fashion and pure art meet, in symbiotic and beautiful connection. And we don´t want to ruin that, right!

Hello my fashionistas! Hope you are doing well and that you are enjoying your Spring! Here is very rainy and cold but what can we do! That is why I decided to post a new impression of one of my favourite fashion designers, just to warm up my heart a little bit! In today´s post the word is about italian designer Alberta Ferretti. I think the italian fashion is so chic and elegant, very wearable, even when we talk about haute couture. The Alberta Ferretti design is just like that.

She knows very well to accentuate the femininity, giving her silhouettes the perfect light structure using tons of silk and chiffon. Her airy alike approach to forms perfectly follows the curves of woman´s body giving it the most elegant vibe. With delicate embroidery features she gives her fashion a traditional touch to it or with flowy and feather light combinations she embodies the perfect dress any woman could wish for.

Alberta Ferretti feels woman, her sensitivity and strength at the same time. So her fashion is an odesque to that, to brave and fierless woman who isn´t affraid to show her vulnerability. Sexappeal is presented in traces, alluring it in hints like nacked back, translucide textures or deep cutted one side gowns. All of that makes it the perfect fashion for celebrating woman by woman. More of that we can not ask for!

MAURIZIO GALANTE



Hi, my dear fashion friends! In last few posts I am keeping discovering some new names from the haute couture scene. By that I mean that they are not so wide global popular like others but have amazing and interesting visual expression and couture design. In today´s post the word is about Italian designer, who manufactures in France, Maurizio Galante.

I am always so excited when I come across to me some new names on the couture scene, because I can see the endless imagination which is incorporated in haute couture craftsmanships. His work is very avant-garde, very futuristic and high artisticly accentuated. He likes strong, architecture alike silhouettes with wide range of bright and strong colors.

He likes to take inspirations from different cultures like japanese or tribal, giving them a modern twist. He also likes to accentuate the symbiotic connection between fashion and nature making ensembles very floral alike with tons of silky and gentle ruffles, or fragile but crystal clear like "dessert rose" a.k.a cactus.

His artistic vision is presented in make up of models too. Faces painted all over in vibrant colors, or minimalisticly in forms of lines across the face, making the models "couture warriors" and tribal brides.
His creativity is endless and for me personally a real discover in haute couture scene. His work reminds me why I am such a fan of haute couture; it is vivid and realistic impostation of our wildest dreams. And Maurizio Galante design is giving us excactly just that.

FRANCK SORBIER


Hello my gorgeous fashionistas! I am always trying to explore world of haute couture, finding new names in design sense, so today I will tell few of my impressions about french couturer Franck Sorbier. I think that french designers in general have very explicit and strong visual expressions. More dramatic and decadent, than the better.

That is the case of Franck Sorbier, too. His couture vision is very glamorous, very theatrical and opulent in so many ways. Of course, in haute couture, "less is more" doesn´t really work, but it is very important that in all of this expressions you have right measure and perfect touch of elegance.

That is the case of Franck Sorbier´s design. He likes very strong accentuated silhouettes, with sculpture senses, so his ensembles are breathtaking and have that pure drama vibes. He loves very bold and heavy features, even his textures of dresses are very grandious. I think that behind every strong visual incorporation in haute couture stands very brave designer, who doesn´t affraid to explore and experiment. And that perfect connection, of being self-confident and still amazingly manage to offer the best of couture experience is the best gift designer can give to his audience. And Franck Sorbier is just like that.

Becaues his visual and artistic expression is very theatrical, his runway shows are celebration of beautiful deacadence of haute couture. He gets inspirations from ballerinas, from theatar´s costumes which have that artistic aura which are amazingly fuelled in Sorbier´s aesthethic vision. More of this we can not ask.

WHY WE NEED HAUTE COUTURE!


Hello my beautiful fashion people! Today I would like to get to the rootes, if I may say so. The first idea of this blog was to have an "hommage" to the haute couture, celebrating all the goods and amazing sides that this type of creative design offers us. Of course, I get a little digressions talking about high-street fashion and beauty. But in today´s post I will say why is haute couture important and why we need it.


Of course, many people ask, what´s the point of fashion which no one can wear (meaning by that the sizes are to small or the prices are astronomic big).. But I think it is very important to have this type of fashion expression because it brings the visual and estethical sensation to completely another and new level which can be an inspiration to any aspects of fashion expression.

Haute couture collections are field where designers can be themselves, unleash their imagination to unknown limits, giving back the most amazing pieces of design which we can be free to call pure art. And that is the main purpose and necessity of haute couture.

Of course, we all who are fashion lovers, we can be inspired by these gorgeous design dreams. Just a hint of chiffon in our evening dress, or corsets incorporated in all day clothing; in all of these things we are inspired by great haute couture. And that is the most important thing, right!
