Sometimes the most simple style could be a big challenge. Today when the simplicity in the fashion is sometimes most of the creators strive, and yes that counts even for the ones who make Haute Couture, the simplicity and design minimalism could be difficult to bring up. There are exceptions of course, but this casual meets office trend is here to stay for a long time.
Yet, there are designers who have been nourishing this minimalistic kind of style forever. In that simplicity, they explore the facets of it making it the more heterogenic as possible so that each collection has that wow effect. Fashion does not like to repeat itself but in this case, it is not about repetitions. It is all about exploring the nature of a designer´s expressional habitat. And here is where we can talk about Hussein Chalayan!
Hussein Chalayan is known for his minimalistic design. With his Cyprian Turkish roots and the fashion house which career has mostly developed in London, his aesthetic has that famous British touch in the sense of ready to explore vibe, with the surprising cuts and forms in the most classic pieces. At the first glimpse, his work seems like an everyday uniform potent, but with the wider and closer look, the diversity of these tailoring interventions really gives to all of it the totally new and fresh touch.
The same case was with his latest Resort 2019 collection. The oversized form interrupted by the unusual cuts features is in the main focus. The pre minimalism is hidden not just in the jackets and wide trousers or skirt which can be rocked in an everyday stroll to the town but it is included and present in the choice of the fabrics and textures. The light tweed, the delicate organza or plain cotton with the sheer layer on the top really echoes the refined minimalistic art of Chalayan style.
The surprises, and here is the most interesting point, are definitely brought in the interesting one-ruffle rule which comes in the almost every piece of this collection. Seems like this detail is the motif and the highlight by which the simplicity is been broken and again the factor of the surprise has hit on! The moderation comes not only in the steps of the cuts but in the coloristic way too. The monochrome sense of the collection is brought with the simple whites, blacks, beige and one wide formed dress in coral red!
This collection has its excitements! Although they are not "in your face" kind of ones, it is definitely a collection made for a woman that is confident, style conscious and in the constant search for the perfect original but yet wearable item! In this collection, we have the whole display of them in all their low key but stunning fashion glory!
What do you think about this collection? Do you like this kind of the minimalistic design? Have you ever heard about Chalayan design?
Thank you for the attention!
