Seems like the famous Herrera glamour has got a little toned down with the heterogenic approach to the clothes in this Resort collection. It has still kept that refined touch which is so important when we talk about Herrera style, but the changes have emerged in the total approach to design which is witty, playful, young, not so serious, still wearable and classy chic. This collection has all of that and even more. And it really strikes the design and creative boldness and brave approach to the legacy of house Herrera and gives to it all a totally new, fresh and exclusive touch!
Don´t get me wrong! There was and is nothing wrong about the legendary Ms. Carolina Herrera style. It has become an anthological and every-red-carpet-worthy name but the further step which has taken by Wes Gordon in this collection has really marked the future of Herrera house excited and for us, the fashion fans, something we are looking for in the future. But let us take a closer look to this collection, a milestone in every possible way for not just house of Carolina Herrera but for Wes Gordon, too.
The first look has come really strong and authentic. With the sharp and clean almost origami alike silhouette featured with the plain white interrupted by the black Japanese alike floral prints, the midi dress with the loosed up form really has shown a glimpse of what the whole collection was all about. The sharpness in form was continued on the jackets again boosted with floral patterns. The dresses have become the low-key glamour factor in totally another way. With the simplicity on the volume and a little drama in the textures like chiffon ruffles, silky and organza waves, florally pierced stiff cotton this collection really have brought us so many amazing looks and pieces!
One thing which falls in the eye is definitely the colors. Especially the tendency for all monochrome ensembles. Seems that Wes Gordon likes the monochrome looks and it really appears amazing on the airy and in the move playful dresses made from lightly falling one thousand layers. And yes, the lightness is another thing what catches our eyes. The more structured silhouette of Herrera which was toned down in the casual mode by the white blouse stuck into the gown alike dress, here is totally missing and we don´t really care! The lightness here has kept in the colors, materials and in the general approach to the philosophy of design.
This variables of colors, of textures and silhouettes, have occupied our fashion mind and we simply can not wait for Ready To Wear collection which will be displayed on the next New York Fashion Week. And in Carolina Herrera, they can be satisfied too. A new chapter has begun in the most grandiose yet effortless way and we simply love it!
