The latest Spring/Summer 2019 Haute Couture collection was the latest installment held and presented today at the Haute Couture Fashion Week in Paris. If you know the shows by Chanel with the diligence of Karl Lagerfeld, you know that you can expect more than just the pure fashion show. The scenery is almost important as the clothes and the ensemble placed on them. They seem to be the prosthetic piece of each collection, giving the presented clothes the additional meaning. This time the juxtaposition was in the form of the big swimming pool alluring at the classy and old-school pool parties. This starting point has had the huge importance in the story-telling of this how.
So the romantically installed a swimming pool in the center of the runway show has the role of introducing us to the totally Summery vibe of this collection alluring at the lightness and the softness in the textures and forms. The absence of the famous tweed material was totally irrelevant. The huge romantic boost was there with some sort of nostalgia. The two-piece ensembles were brought in the blazer and long pencil skirt. With the chiffon attachments on the sleeves and collars has accentuated the beauty of the classic wear. Beside the sleek and pencil-skirted forms, the siren silhouettes were there too, just to accentuate the modern vintage spirit which here was so relevant and placed so delicate and soft.
The textures of the fringes were incorporated just to give the whole idea the playful and edgy swing. As well as the laced ones too. The high romantic character of this collection was so accelerated giving us once again the new chapter in Chanel design. With the glamorous evening dresses that were more voluminous on the skirt gazing the classic ball-gowns story, this collection was really the most magical ever. No sign of rock chic vibes that were so presented in the latest Couture collections by Chanel. Seems like as the time goes by, Karl Lagerfeld has found the escapism in the truly classy style that here was so clean and uninterrupted. Only at the very end, as the version of the wedding dress has emerged. The by crystals embellishments monokini with the same by the shiny crystals encrusted "Shower" cap with the ultra long veil falling down. Just to remind us that yes, here is the pure classic but touched by the Lagerfeld contemporary spirit! Enough to fall in love!
This collection has shown the nature of Chanel in the totally new light. With the more vintage spirit interpreted in the forms and chromatic solutions, it has delivered us, once again, a well-told Couture story, synced in every visual aspect yet still fresh and contemporary! The Fontane of inspirations seems to go hand in hand with the genius design ideas by Karl Lagerfeld! And, the end of it is not to be seen!
