A BLAST FROM THE PAST!

Fresh and witty with the known elements. With these words the latest Spring/Summer 2021 collection by Chanel. Seems like Virginie Viard has found her design signature that corresponds so in-tuned with the classic Chanel aesthetic. The Parisian chic with the note of the famous Gabrielle Chanel tomboy-ish approach was the highlight and the leading line in the creative signature for this collection.

The famous jersey piece was there incorporated on almost every outfit but this time it was more softened and voluminous on the shoulders and light accentuated on the waistline. There were plenty of t-shirts and pullovers with the CHANEL logo all over it. Paired with the Bermudas alike trousers were reminiscing the perfect French-style uniform.

With the plenty of micros and mini accessories from the bags to the bags-alike-phone-chargers, the collection was an homage to the Chanel aesthetic and those topics for which this house has been known for: the subtle feminine side paired with the high elegance but in the very wearable and approachable mannerism. For Chanel, this was the look back but in a good way, or to be more precise, a blast from the past, the secure fit that goes perfectly with the expectations of the old but it is modern and interesting enough for the new customers.

Honestly, Chanel never goes out of style. And with this collection that could be seen as the playful manifesto of it, it has brought us another exciting and beautiful collection full of amazing pieces and style inspirations!

What do you think about this collection? Do you find it very Chanel and which looks do you like the most?

MARY KATRANTZOU S/S 2020 COLLECTION

The design concept of Mary Katrantzou is definitely something you see and never forget! That kind of feeling I had as I first time saw the work of this amazing fashion creator-ess! The heterogeneity and the ambivalent approach to every collection that is always exciting and new, with the richness on the prints and the wide spectrum of the bold textures´ choice and yet the style that is elegant, stunning and gorgeous! That is definitely something that the design spirit of Mary Katrantzou speaks about and we, the fashion fans adore it!

The latest Spring/Summer 2020 Ready To Wear collection was all of that mentioned above and even more! Let us just accentuate that Ready To Wear segment because at the first glimpse the master of craftsmanship allures more in the direction of the Haute Couture. The form that was rather sculpted and monumental with the glorious uber-big details that were unique for almost each of the thirty-seven pieces presented at this collection. The volume screams totally Couture and having on our mind the excellence of Mary Katrantzou as a designer, we must adore it and praise it!

The wow-effect was definitely hidden in the textures and prints for which Mary Katrantzou is known about! The refined nature of them until every detail from the micro-fine fringes, litmus-paper light fringes, the luxurious simplicity of the satin canvas, the floral appliques attached to the top of the ancient atlas blueprints! The majority of the ensembles were the dresses in the long versions giving this collection the ultimate glamour dictate and note!

This collection was a true piece of art and it was for sure the most outstanding one ever made by Mary Katrantzou! She has pushed her own creative limits keeping her signature but offering us a completely new and different fashion story that is bolder, artistically fuller and almost anthological! What more could we ask for!

What do you think about this collection? Do you think it is more on the Couture side? Which dress do you like the most?

NEW COUTURE SPIRITS FROM GIVENCHY

Sarah Waight Keller has been in Givenchy as the creative director for two years. After the big moment of designing the wedding dress for HRH Meghan Markle seems like the name of this British designer on the top of the famous French fashion house has been boosted and the expectations from her were definitely higher than ever. Seems like Sarah Waight Keller has not been amazed or feared by that fact, so she decided to go further in her artistic designer escapades.

The latest Fall 2019 Haute Couture collection was created in that kind of direction. A little more playful, bolder, sassier and aesthetically different. The hybrid from the already known Waight Keller fashion codes was the mixture of the volume that was on the more sculpted side with the hints of the extravaganza pure in the form of feathers and fringed appliques. The play of the textures and the forms here was satisfied perfectly in the collision with the wearable and factor of approaching directions.

The tweedy materials as we saw it at the beginning of the show with the stiff three-quarter sleeves in the correspondence with the sleek figure and the more casual silhouette. Or the all-the-way explorative bubbly-form on the top of the clean vertical obliques. Seems like the diversity was a huge "Spiritus Movens" for this collection if you ask Sarah Waight Keller. In addition to that was displayed a gorgeous cape-gown in the powdery pink. The monumentality of this ensemble at the almost statuesque kind of way was definitely the highlight of the collection!

The heterogenic approach was kept on the radar with the feathery opulence gown or the two-piece one made from the disco-glitter embellishment jacket and the crinoline alike skirt. The oxymoronic nature of this look was definitely that new kick in the visual sense for the house of Givenchy.

Not to mention the latest ones from the runway, the wedding dress at the very end as the final conclusion of the collection that was totally different from what we could expect, far away from the clean lines and more on the pure Couture side, or the structured gowns featured with the astonishing prints! So many diversities and exciting creations that have set Sarah Waight Keller in the line of the very promising Couturiers! And that is for the world of couture a big thing!

What are your thoughts about this collection? Do you like the work by Waight Keller for Givenchy so far?

Thank you for your attention!
