Miu Miu, "the little sister" brand by Miuccia Prada has always been opened for the most intriguing design and ready to experiment and explore in a visual way. Turning the main "Spiritus Movens" of Miu Miu which is, in general, taking the fashion not so serious and undertoning the witty and playful part of the fashion design mixing everything that at the first sight could look like the mess, but a positive mess, a mess with huge aesthetic order and orbit. In that same visually exciting way, Fall 2018 Ready to Wear collection was imagined.
The two huge themes from the style and fashion history were re-invented or re-cycled, if you prefer, and brought into the totally new view and point of the stand which is currently emerging everywhere to be the IT trend. And those themes were 60-s and 80-s collided and mixed into the one glorious and amazing vintage chic which by its eclectic was bursting with the Miu Miu design signature.
The 60-s were mainly in the sight of the faces and hair of models. The bold and cat-eyed eyeliner game was presented in the modern "Brigitte Bardot" mannerism. The opulent and voluminous hair was on the same visual band-wagon. The reminiscence of the 60-s was here very strong, almost in the archaic kind of way. Usually, the hair and makeup don´t have and don´t tend to be such a strong part of the collection, but here they were the iconic moment and the huge part of the style which was brought in this collection.
The clothes, on the other hand, was in the totally 80-s vibes. The oversized jackets, pumped de-stressed jeans, the sculpted and heavy silhouettes of the coats which looked almost as taken from a grandad´s closet and turned into the modern and hippy version of the same. The tweedy textures were on the same vintage swing. The multiplying attitude towards the details and the accessories like the belt on the belt, the collar on the collar, the sweater on the sweater was kept that playful and edgy spirit for which Miu Miu has been known about. The catchy style wise pieces were definitely overalls made from the shiny, nylon rain-coat alike material. These items were the style perfections which were again the perfect epiphany of all what the current and contemporary fashion was all about.
This collection has shown the playful side of the fashion. The urge and mission for re-inventions are always so common in the world of fashion. But in Miu Miu, nothing is common and dull! It is funny, brave, eclectic, rich in every possible way and still very strong, polished and refined. This is the power of good design and we love it!
What do you think about this collection? How do you find the eclectic spirit of this collection? Do you like the hair and makeup?
Thank you for the attention!
