Something is different in the house of Roberto Cavalli. For all the fashion insiders that know what the regular and typical Cavalli style looks like the latest Spring/Summer 2019 collection was a total boost of a different kind of vibe. Maybe the reason for that new and different kind of style is in the new creative designer in the house of Roberto Cavalli. Paul Surridge is his name and he is known for the menswear. So this turning point for the house of Cavalli must have been tricky and brave. The more lay down aesthetic with the absence of the typical Cavalli design and with the soft nudes and light patterns. It this the right way for the future in Cavalli?!
Because Cavalli has been all about the high glamour. The femme fatale effect which was their trading mark, the plenty of animal and colorful prints mixed with the (faux) fur. That was the trademark aesthetic which was so important for Cavalli DNA. If you wanted to look sexy and fearless you will always go with the Cavalli dress or the vibrantly printed fur coat. So the fact that all of that was absent in the latest Ready To Wear collection pops the question, is Paul Surridge the right choice for Cavalli?!
In this collection, the upfront and on the first place the low key elegance with the casual approach. Even the first look that was worn by Gigi Hadid has had the total different aesthetic. The midi trousers in the nude with the paired jacket. The softness of the prints is something that is definitely on the opposite side of the usual Cavalli design. And here it was on the very low key note. The accent was more on the classic elegance brought in the form of the fluent silhouettes on the midi skirts, the sports spirit on the shorts or the glimpse of the little glam in the all blacks evening wear.
So the question that comes too is could this kind of aesthetic save old Cavalli buyers?! Is the aesthetic politics currently on the totally different level, the level that is incomparable with the known Cavalli style? Well, we will have to see. There was nothing wrong in this collection. The light and assertive feminine approach is something that was strange to the original Roberto Cavalli, but maybe this mellow road is something worth trying too. If nothing else, some new and more urban buyers will flow in. We just need to adjust to the refine and new nature of the new Roberto Cavalli!
What do you think about this collection? Do you like the typical Cavalli style or do you prefer this kind more loosed up and low key elegant kind of style?
Thank you for the attention!
