RICCARDO TISCI´S RE-BUILDING OF BURBERRY STYLE

Subversive yet strictly classic and high elegant. Seems like Riccardo Tisci has found the successful formula for his vision and aesthetic for Burberry. In the first collections, he was more on the path to recycle the famous Burberry fashion code which is not a bad thing. On contrary, sometimes the designer needs to give respect and to dig in the archives just to see what the original is all about, to reset and filtrate the old approach and in the "Tabula Rasa" kind of way to start all over again, from the beginning. Seems like that beginning is long gone, and now we can see the true Riccardo Tisci´s work and vision of the current Burberry. When two fashion names like these collide, the style equilibrium must be found, or else the handwriting and what the name of the brand stands for could be erased.

The latest Fall 2019 Ready To Wear collection has brought that new spirit, innovative and fresh, much bold than the latest ones in the design directive by Tisci. Seems like the collection has had everything for everyone, rounding the consumers from the very young and social media oriented, to the classic audience that adores Burberry style and what this famous British brand represents. At the very beginning, the sportswear accents and the modern casuals were imperative. The red logo letters on the famous Burberry's print has offered the urban and contemporary, youthful version of the famous Burberry trench coat. Seems like that reference is not so much in the design juxtaposition if you ask Tisci. He is more oriented, well at least in this collection, at the edgy and chic repulsive vibe by staging the deconstructed and "unfinished" coats, like he was re-building the Burberry spirit in his own way.

The total opposite and contrasting side was brought in the form of a puffy jacket that was staged like a glamorous gown, at least in the form. This ensemble could echo the current vision and state of the visual mind of Burberry. And by that, the experimental side was finished. I bet that in the future collections, we will see more of these edgy and extravagant solutions. As the show was going to the finale, the looks were back into the more classic and known Burberry niche. The fitted and perfectly cut suits and sleek skirts alluring the perfect office-cocktail-late-dinner wear combinations. Brought in the camel color, they toned down the spirit of the "vagabond" showed in the first part of the collection. The addition to the light and mellow classic were definitely the flowy and fluent dresses in the sand and black. Chic yet kept in the casual zone.

This collection has shown the new era of Burberry. Although this was not the first collection by Riccardo Tisci for Burberry, it was more authentic. The edgy side that opens the whole new possibilities and seductive for the new consumers, and the classic Burberry but with the new spirit, for the older recipients, this collection has had all. Still, so Burberry!

What do you think about this collection? What are your thoughts about Riccardo Tisci ´s work for Burberry so far? Which ensemble do you like the most?

Thank you for your attention!
