Seems like 80-is are having a tremendous big moment in the current fashion mainstream scene. This occurrence is the real prove how fashion re-invents itself and how it composts the old visual highlights and revitalizes them into the new and fresh ones. If one collection was bursting with 80-is influences and vibes then that was probably the one by Marc Jacobs for Fall 2018 Ready To Wear season. This collection was the one which has closed the New York Fashion Week, too.
Marc Jacobs never ever gets it wrong. The stunning fact about his design and collections is that he takes one theme, drives it to the extreme and by that he makes the most outrageous and groundbreaking fashion stories. This season he has taken 80-is inspiration to the totally new level creating the totally new aesthetic which has almost its borderline in the Haute Couture niche. This is how exceptional Marc Jacobs design lately is and why the fashion world loves his work so much.
In this collection, everything that has had the characteristics of the 80-is was underlined in the biggest kind of way. Everything was exaggerated, the big shoulders, the peplum alike jackets, MC Hammer alike trousers wide as it could possibly be. There were not so many feminine touches. Seems that the silhouette was taken from the masculine clothes and brought in the women wear. The retro-eighties spirit in the androgynous kind of way was on the scene but muted with the uber-big details like the bows and ruffles.
The wrapping effects were almost on the barrier of the pure art. With the heavy textures, it has had almost a sculpted artistic kind of way. The stunning were colors too. All in the autumnal earthy deep shades, mixed with the black , were simply stunning to see. The big hats and the scarf alike headpieces under it have pumped even more the whole extravaganza of this collection. Seems like we have seen all of these in the deep past, in the closet tour of our moms or grandmothers, but still this collection looks fresh and exciting. Almost like the big indicator of the future trends!
What do you think about this collection? Do you like the silhouette and the ultra big eighties accents that were presented?
Thank you for the attention!
