OSCAR WORTHY COUTURE

Those visitors to my blog who are new, I have to say that I have two of the most favorite fashion designers ever. On the one side of the scale, it is Alexander McQueen who was so avant-garde in his aesthetic that even today a fashion has a gap that has never really been fulfilled ( Sarah Burton is doing amazing work in after Lee era, but her style aspirations are in the totally different level that is still admirable. And on the other scale end, there is the design of Elie Saab!

Elie Saab has definitely that what the concept of the pure glamour attraction holds. When I think of how the glamour should look-alike in the Couture aspect, his work is definitely something that I am always leaning towards!

It is really stunning how the concept of fashion beaut fades away in the case of Elie Saab. Just as you thought that the level of gorgeousness has peaked, he delivers the collection that shows the opposite!

That was the case in Spring/Summer 2020 Haute Couture collection. This collection alludes at his beginnings when his Couture was all in the fine embroidery, luxurious fabrics, and fluid forms! If you need an introduction to Elie Saab's Couture legacy, well this collection is the perfect one to see!

From the pure feminine silhouettes, the rich yet refined silver and lustrous golden to textures, to the big bows structured and placed strategically just to tone down the deep cut gowns' spirit!

Since in the few weeks the Oscars are on, it would be really a big waste if any of the celebrities won't be wearing one of these ensembles. With Elie Saab, you can never go wrong and yet you step out from the conventional beauty into the more star-studded area! Fingers crossed that the stylists will have an eye on this collection!

What do you think about this collection? Do you think any of these gowns will be a star of this year's awards season?

Thank you for your attention!

RIDE OR DIVE BY OFF-WHITE

Off-White in the designer guidance by Virgil Abloh has set its aesthetic between the posh casual elegance. Off-White as a brand is very IN amongst the fashion lovers boosting with the trendy pieces that capture your attention at the social media scroll. The concept of trend is something that Virgil Abloh knows to recognize and yet with his artistic mode he transfers it towards the more refined concepts. And that is why Off-White is very popular as a fashion brand!

The same kind of casual-meets-sportswear-chic mode was all over the latest Resort 2020 collection by Off-White. The non-bothered theme was inspired by the maritime theme. The first look was a sharp white suit with sleek and clean lines. The trousers were wider and yet they looked structured and polished. That is one thing that Virgil Abloh nourishes. In the off-loose concept, he brings sharp and structured forms so that overall feeling is modern and on fashion fleek!

The same variation appeared in the olive green with jacket, top, and trousers trio, only this time the trousers looked like an elevated version of the track pants. The maritime theme, as was mentioned, was on the go even more with the ensembles inspired by the scuba-dive suits. The hats that appeared as the part of the scuba-gear were well incorporated in this whole theme giving it a little edgy spin as well as the well-structured blouses and coats allured at the diving suit material!

This concept was well nourished in a visual way with the dresses on the top of it all. This rather romantic item in this interpretation looked bolder, edgier and somehow different. This shows how the concept of the usual items can be changed and transformed into the one with the new aura. Talking about the new concepts, the net-bags were so on point. Even the skirts made from the black net appeared fresh, modern and urban, although they were taken from the dive-background!

This collection has shown once again why Virgil Abloh and his label Off-White are the most adored ones in the fashion world. Abloh simply knows how to re-create the new concepts and by that the new horizons in the design sense, the design that is still so wearable yet very exclusive!

What do you think about this collection? Do you like the theme of it? And which item do you like the most?

A BRAND NEW STYLE IN HOUSE OF CAROLINA HERRERA

Wes Gordon has been the creative director of Carolina Herrera fashion house for a while and he has formed his own signature attitude in the designing. This kind of different approach could be sensed in his last two collections where he combines successfully the aspects of more traditional CH style approach with the modern and fresh spin. Wes Gordon has built designer courage, no doubt to that, so his collections for Carolina Herrera are always kind of different yet so very Herrera. How he manages that, he has shown in the latest Resort 2020 collection.

The first thing that catches the eye is the silhouette that is shorter than the "traditional" Carolina Herrera one and not just that. It is more structured and opulent. Wes Gordon likes to play with the volume of the pieces so he puts the opulent touch to it in almost every ensemble. That is the modern twist to the usual aesthetic of Herrera that we know.

Another different kind of vibe is the length. The length is shorter, so in this collection, we have plenty of mini-dresses or short lines in general. The first few looks from this collection that was presented in the editorial form, are all about that. Playful dresses in mini versions with vibrant colors and happy floral prints or more elegant ones with ruffled textures are really something quite different than what we usually could expect from Herrera style.

Even the famous white blouse and glamorous gown concept are in the interpretation by Wes Gordon rather re-constructed or deconstructed, if you prefer. The stiff collar white blouse was refreshed with the bell-sleeves featured with embroidered logo line horizontally on the top of the mini skirt enriched with floral prints. Or more homogenous version was offered in the all-white look with the typically CH white shirt and laced textured flare pants. What a great inversion of the already known fashion codes!

The youthful and contemporary spirit was kept in the same lane with the baby-doll mini dress and big bow on the bustier area. Or the polka dots versions of black and white combination on the midi-dresses that looked so urban and chic thanks to the much easier and fluid textures. And just to hint us the "back to the roots" moment with flamenco ruffled sweeping dress. And the total break-down to the future with refined embellished dresses on silver with the interventions of the tiny lace features.

This collection is definitely a totally new visual twist of the already known Herrera aesthetic. The playful and unbothered approach with the impeccable style in the realization makes this collection another breakthrough and another hit for Wes Gordon! He has shown confidence and respect to the house he creates for, and yet managed to find his own signature. And that is definitely something worth an appreciation!

What do you think about this collection? Do you like this new visual approach of Carolina Herrera? Which look do you like the most?

EDGY SPIN OF STYLE BY JOHANNA ORTIZ

Johanna Ortiz has already established her signature design. The gorgeous feminine dresses that are rich in the forms and colors alluring the richness of "La Vida Divina" that comes with her Columbian heritage. That joy "de Vivre" is definitely something Johanna Ortiz design has set her signature into the remarkable place catching the attention of many fashionistas and fashion fans. The rich femininity with the dresses as the main item domain featured with the glamorous big hats and ruffles. But seems that lately, Johanna Ortiz has that courage to try something different exploring her limits as a designer giving us something else in her collections.

That evolution or the step further was remarkable in her latest Pre-Fall 2019 Ready to Wear collection but in the Resort 2020, her design swag was so bold and on point. The overall feeling was that Johanna Ortiz lady has become sassier and urban. The first look of Resort collection was the all-white ensemble featured by light puffy-sleeved blouse and midi-skirt. This homogenous approach in the coloristic sense is definitely refreshing dote into the always with the chromatic prints rich solutions. This monochromatic look was not the only one. The light pink dress with the balloon sleeves and knot tied on the front was brought in the same kind of mannerism but with the more fluid silhouette.

What has made this collection bold and sassy, are more toned down colors and boots on the top of the empowering formed dresses. The accentuated shoulders alluring at the office smart options and the leather knee-boots was definitely something new in Johanna Ortiz style. The pure contrast to her usual aesthetic was all-black ensemble with the uber-big, again, puffed sleeved blouse and leather skirt. The seriousness of this look was there to set a different kind of vibe than what we could expect from Johanna Ortiz!

As the show was going to its end, it has remained something of JO aesthetic that we were used to. The ruffled dresses with the huge hints of neo-romanticism with amazing prints, silky textures, and a flowy silhouette mantra only without vibrant colors. More earthy ones as well as that kind of prints. But still so stunning and desirable for any fashion lover!

What do you think about this collection? Do you like this new aesthetic by Johanna Ortiz? Which look from this collection do you like the most?
