The shows from Chanel have a long time ago converted from the simple shows to the super grand inscenations with theatrical, and by that, I mean it in a nonpretentious way, which are hidden the all-around concept of the whole collection. So yes, the conceptualistic approach to the fashion is something Karl Lagerfeld has been nourishing lately putting the traditional Chanel aesthetic in new and modern niches.
The same thing was with the Chanel Spring/Summer 2018 Ready-To-Wear Collection. Put and presented in the bottom of the big waterfall which was looking so astonishing and grandious, Lagerfeld has shown the upper ladder of Chanel. The tweedy textures which have become a trademark of the house Chanel were on the runway too. But this time they were featured by the amazing accessories and by that I mean the sheer plastic rainy coat alike hats, boots and gloves. It was like Chanel has taken the retro-futuristic vibes and brought them into the new collection.
But the more astonishing was the makeup. In the era of nudes and simple beauty which was elevated from the Haute Couture shows to the Ready To Wear ones, the dramatic makeup was impossible not to notice. But here there were hints of intentional exaggerations. The retro "Stich" was strong, alluring the twenties years from the last century as it was made for Gabrielle Chanel herself. But the blacks switched to the watery blue, another collision with waterfall theme.
So as you see, nothing is sudden and coincidence in the house of Chanel. The wide silhouettes of the ensembles, the mannequin postures of the models, the pastel colors of it. Everything was a perfectly rounded story about another chapter of Chanel making the modern trends flirting with tradition!
Do you like this collection? What do you think about accessories and makeup? What is your favorite item from this show?
Thank you for the attention!
