NEO-GRUNGE BY OLIVIER THEYSKENS

At the first glimpse, the style by Olivier Theyskens could look a little more on the experimental side. With the Belgian sense of fashion which is much on the avant-garde side of the design, the Olivier Theyskens approach has that neo approach but with huge French chic attitude. With the career in the well popular and known fashion houses like Nina Ricci or Rochas, Olivier Theyskens has built the specific and refined elegance with strong cuts and design with fresh and modern feminine vibes.

This contemporary and modern art of fashion was the main thing that was all about in his latest Spring/Summer 2018 Ready-To-Wear Collection. With consciously seductive notes brought in the form of sheer textures on the tops or dresses, the original fluent silhouette which was revealing enough but nothing too much. The simplicity of design was undertoned with the coloristic range too. The white, black and red as the main focus of the chromatic side of the collection.

But that seductive note was toned down with the alternative glimpses which were on the safe side of the neo-grunge. The Martens boots on in the combination of the glamorous version of Theyskens nightwear which was constructed by easy layers, deep lace textures, and classic coat or the trench one on the top of it all. With this antipode and contrast, the Theyskens aesthetic has become more vivid and youthful.

The stars of the collection were no doubt the dresses. The airy and fluent form and silhouette which were the epitome of the easy wear but with huge fashion conscious. The unpretentious seductive notes were undertoned with more structured details on the corsets alike tops. The seductive point was on the highest with the transparent moments of the dresses. The ensemble at the very end with black lace and big voluminous Couture alike dress was the perfect round up and the great final of this amazing collection.

The fresh grunge spirit is something that will be big next season. With over-voluminous forms with purposely eighties and early nineties revival, this collection offers the new and innovative aesthetic of already known fashion canons. Without being stuck in the past and with big stylistically on point features, this collection has evocated the new army of fashionistas and fashion fans.

What do you think about this collection? How do you feel about grunge moments in it? Do you like the dresses and the transparent features on them?

Thank you for the attention!

Georgia! xo
