It was the third in the row Haute Couture collection by Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy. It is amazing to see the visual evolution and the aspects that are so inevitable for the aesthetic of this British designer for the long-time famous French house of fashion. The feminine vision that has kept in the codes with the contemporary interruptions are definitely the way to go for the fashion codes made by Clare Waight Keller. The approachable magic that is wearable but still so mystical and slightly edgy, even in the context of the Haute Couture, is something that has put the latest Givenchy collections in the worldwide spotlight long ago before Meghan Markle´s approval!
If we take a look at the latest Haute Couture collection for Spring/Summer 2019, the codes were definitely brought in the size of the smart tailoring, the mixture of the sculpted silhouettes and lightness of the laced textures. The first look, that could always be taken as the highlight or the resume of what the collection will be about, in the case of Givenchy was sleek waist accentuated double-buttons blazer in dark grey with the white collar interruption on the top of the latex leggings. This oxymoronic hybrid of the classic in the cut and edginess in the texture that allures us on the modern and contemporary is definitely the quick and instant slide glimpse that was present throughout the whole collection.
The much romantic spin was brought in the corporation of the lace mini dress with again accentuated waistline but this time with a homogenous also white belt with the little bow. This dress sums up the design vision that Clare Waight Keller adores and it is so good at it! And that is the sculpted delicacy very refined and profound that aspires at the finest feminine beauty. The lace was here the perfect choice. And not just in this case. The cape alike dress in the lace edition accompanied with the same matte latex leggings but in the black lace print edition, has captured the true nature of the new Givenchy style vibes that in the case of Haute Couture were emphasized in the form of more wearable not so dramatic and exaggeration pure ensembles.
Talking about the exaggeration, of course, Clare Waight Keller nourishes more refined and simple cuts. But the little drama was kept definitely in the all-black or all-white long, gown alike dresses. Made from the sculpted satin with the transparent down-part with the big bow attachment on the backs, now that was the pure Couture drama at its finest. Or the step further the dress made of all-spaghetti-fringes playfully falling in the multi-colors. Or on the other hand, the symbiosis of the masculinely fitted "Le Smoking" broken down to the powerful feminine spin in the shape of the corset in the violet sharp diamond cut on the top. Or the structure meets the sheerness with the two dresses at the very end.
This collection has defined what the new Givenchy is all about. The sculpted texture mixed with the delicacy of the textures revealing the contemporary feminine beauty that is so wearable and glamorous at the same time. The empowering of the woman could be sensed even in this Haute Couture collection. Nonpretentiously, of course, it was mastered in the conscious edginess respecting the Givenchy herritage but opening the new doors a.k.a chapter that nourishes simply beautiful fashion with The Attitude!
What do you think about this collection? What are your thoughts about Clare Waight Keller´s work for Givenchy? Which ensemble do you like the most in this collection?
Thank you for attention!
