A very picturesque coziness! With these words could be described the design by Sonia Rykiel. What that has made her work so inspiring is that she has never been afraid of making the edgy and witty items like the coats or sweaters in the totally playful mannerism! When we think Sonia Rykiel we think about the not-so-ordinary design that still works amazingly in the sense of everyday life or fashion that we all can relate too. Seems like this same design attitude nourishes a current creative director of Sonia Rykiel fashion house, Julie de Libran. She appreciates and follows what Sonia Rykiel style is and makes it more personal and new!
The perfect proof for this is the latest Fall 2019 Ready To Wear collection. The layerings, the factor of the chic casuals and perfect match in the coziness, everything in this collection was on point and has offered us the perfect vision of what Sonia Rykiel style is all about. The one thing that catches the eye is the colors. Amongst the hybrid nature of Rykiel design, the chromatic solutions were always on the vibrant and vivid side note. Just at the first glimpse at the first look in this collection, the sheer ensemble featured of the coloristic layers from the head to toe was definitely the pure eye-catcher.
This playful and outgoing tone was on the pitch throughout the whole collection. Even the whole all-black outfits in the creative direction of Sonia Rykiel look really exciting and not dull or minimalistic, at all. The play with the length, the totally airy and fluid structure that has been built and built giving us the stunning silhouette swing. The fringes were the IT detail, not just in this monochromatic black case but in the following outfits too!
The idea of layers and the game of the covering up for the aesthetic of Sonia Rykiel has that inevitable nature and posture. The capes are almost a must in this collection because they look dramatic yet allow to move and to be free. They are the perfect canvas for the wide trousers on the bottom or in the stola kind of way on the top of the evening dress!
Oh, talking about the evening dresses, in the scenario of Sonia Rykiel they look so effortless and neat, yet very vivid and elegant. From the shiny embellished textures that appear so refined and gentle to the again sheer and chiffon textures attached on the light knitwear midi-dress! What else could we ask for!
This collection has shown the spirit of Sonia Rykiel still goes on! In the playful and no-need-to-bother kind of elegance, her design looks so appealing and modern with the strong chic pretentious notes. And that is with a reason! This collection is made for a woman that knows a good style, but still loves her coziness! And yes, in the world of Sonia Rykiel these two components work just fine!
What do you think about this collection? Which ensemble do you like the most? Do you like the prints and the colors, the forms, and cuts?
Thank you for your attention!
