Over the top, but who cares! Seems like that sentence is a guideline when it comes to Jeremy Scott´s design. He likes everything to be too much! From the hair and makeup, from the sense of the luxurious decadence, from the topic textures and prints that are reminiscing the idols of the pop-culture. At the first glimpse, this attitude is all fun and cray-cray, but Jeremy Scott knows what he is doing using the fashion to de-code the sarcasm and the absurd of the current world. And yes, in the eyes of fashion, the world seems to be very sassy and fun, but that prism is only to be a "tampon-zone" for the outside world or the pure survive-guide how to keep the spark in the ongoing drama of reality!
The latest Fall 2019 Ready To Wear collection for Moschino by Jeremy Scott was all about that, that feeling of the spirit in the world of the decadent luxury. The first look that was sent on the runway, worn by Kaia Gerber, really set the tone to the whole collection. The uber-big wig hair, the dramatic makeup in the mannerism of the late 80s, and catching motifs on the leather ensemble constructed of the biker formed jacket and mini skirt. The dollars print on it was there just to glorify the expensive spirit of this collection, above all of that visual opulence.
One thing that Jeremy Scott is so good at, amongst the using a fashion as the social codes, is definitely his ability to make stunning dresses. And we need to accentuate the stunning here. His dresses are pure show-stoppers with the seductive level at the highest. The cutouts on the places where you thought that they were impossible, like that violet mini dress revealing everything that is possible, or stunning gowns that are more night-occasion predicted, like the long ones.
If you think that daily wear is not so Moschino thing, well you were wrong. The versions of tracksuits in the fashion direction by Jeremy Scott are definitely remarkable pieces that stand out with the prints and coloristic vivid nature. The form only is low and simple, but everything else is very loud and requires a huge amount of style consciousness.
But doesn´t mean that Moschino fashion is selective. No, contrary! It is sublime and on point, strong and echoing the urban myths that we all are apart of. It might look like a playground, but Jeremy Scott knows how to build a good sense of style and shake the conventions in an unconventional way! And, that is his secret and power!
What do you think about Moschino collection? Is it something you would wear? Which look do you like the most?
