CAN A CURRENT HAUTE COUTURE BE SAVED?!

For fashion fans, especially those who like and follow Haute Couture the work by Pierpaolo Piccioli for Valentino is a breeze of fresh air! Particularly the latest few collections where Mr. Piccioli has unleashed his "Couture" spirit upgrading the already known typical Valentino couture and design canons and codes into his own fashion story that is acceptable, fresh, exciting and beautiful just as the same as Valentino design as we know it!

The latest Haute Couture 2020 Pre-Fall collection was a total festivity of Couture what we used to know, what Couture had been made so amazing and different from the rest of the fashion niches. Lately, I need to undertone this, it seems like Haute Couture has lost its spark. It has been "down-graded" to the more casual and minimalistic slide with the accents on the easy approachable style that can be imagined in the quotidian use. And that is ok, for some time! But fashion needs to be tendentious towards the aesthetic that is uplifting, different, bold, brave and simultaneously well cut at the same time! It seems like in the work of Pierpaolo Piccioli all of these segments are well imagined and brought to the final light!

But let me say a few words about this collection! The word is about  Haute Couture Pre-Fall 2020 capsule collection! Accents are on the "capsule" and "Couture" collection! The capsule means that this collection is imagined to be limited one with the pieces that are representative of that particular, in this case, Valentino, fashion brand! This concept of the term "capsule" is often used in the concept of Ready To Wear collections and the wardrobe that is used in everyday life. But here Piccioli has made an exception and has made the same concept but in the terms of Haute Couture and it was presented in Beijing!

This collection indeed did have everything that Valentino Couture's spirit is all about! From the big bows saturated one on one, to the micro-fine three-dimensional ornaments, from the cult red dresses to the amazing, now already iconic Piccioli rich prints! With the gorgeous cuts that are sharp and neat even when the texture is heterogenic and boosted with palpable features, and amazing voluminous gowns that in one moment you see as the luxurious coat or cape, and in the other as the floor-sweeping dress!

As I am describing all of this it can sound a totally hectic fashionable point of view, but you see, here is why Piccioli is so great at what he does. Everything appears so neat and simple, systematic and well thought. Yet the symphony in design sense is polyvalent and simply dazzling! It only shows how Piccioli is an amazing Couturier (maybe even bigger than Mr. Valentino Gharavani himself?!) in the tailoring sense but loves the richness of design and what design speaks about!

And at the very end, we ask ourselves, or at least we consider to bring this rhetorical question; could Haute Couture be saved today? Well, if we see this collection, totally yes! Couture that is picturesque, heterogenic, and daring to be a realization of a dream! More re-assurance we do not need to ask!

What do you think about this collection? Do you think that Valentino´s Couture is definitely something that is inspiring and rich in the artistical sense? Do you think that Couture can be saved in that sense?

Thank you for your attention!
