Since Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia have taken the leading role in the creative design the light evolution of Oscar de la Renta style or preferably said the aesthetic has gone through some changes. Seems like these days the imperative is how to bring closer the fashion to the youthful costumers so the re-brand of the aesthetic is something that has become a regular and the common thing these days in the fashion world. But fashion would not be a fashion without all of these dynamics. If any art doesn´t like the constant then that is definitely a fashion.
So in all of these segments, the variability and the evolution that has been caught an eye of any fashion fan in the case of Oscar de la Renta is not a big deal but it really gives us the impeccable joy and that WOW feeling as we see how the silhouettes are changing, how the prints have gone bolder, how the textures have become more versatile. But still, the spirit of the classic Oscar de la Renta style or vibe has been kept in a non-nostalgic way. And that is something that makes the latest collections by Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia so amazing.
The proof for that was the latest Pre-Fall 2019 collection. The first few outfits have been made in the mannerism of the Oriental kind of theme. If we look the caftan alike embroideries, the forms, and lengths. The crafted accents on the arabesques alike ornaments with the robust appliques are definitely the touches by which the exotic and innovative side was shown. And here we have that new aesthetic effect that has incorporated amazingly to the smart-tailored dresses. The volume is more loosed up and almost in the cape kind of nature. That only undertone the different kind of style which the new creative team has been showing us.
As the collection goes till its end, and it was made in the form of simple editorial with the everywhere present "caught-in-the-move" poses which pulses the drama, the ensembles have gone more in the classic de la Renta direction. The pure glam gowns boosted with the shiny embellishments, with the lace, chiffon or fringes. They have offered the antipode for the red carpet glam for which de la Renta has been known for. It shows that this squad has the same affiliation and that they know how to make the fashion that is easy to wear but also love to make the outstanding dresses. The asymmetric one, the long one with the sleek form, the ball-gown alike one. All of that has kept that pure de la Renta vibe!
This collection has shown how versatile and fresh the new aesthetic of de la Renta is. With the steps out in the more different kind of themes, with the alternations in the textures, ornaments, forms but with the kept classic OdlR glam, it has offered us the glimpse of the direction where this fashion house goes. And the direction is simply stunning!
What do you think about this collection? Do you like the new look of Oscar de la Renta? Which ensemble do you like the most?
Thank you for the attention!
