We all know and understand the concept of the multi-eclecticism when we talk about the fashion brand Gucci under the creative leadership from Alessandro Michele. From the seductive polished minimalism from now so long Tom Ford era, the signature of design that has become so attached to the current Gucci design is something that has set the brand into the niche of the not just already mentioned multi-eclecticism, but the poly-valent sense of art. And yes, art is something that is so dear to Alessandro Michele. It is his source on the immense creativity that makes fashion more than just fashion, more just a visual sensation. It is deeper and conceptualistic rounded!
The more parallel inspirational guidelines were part of Resort 2020 collection by Gucci. The strong and echoing visual approach is something Alessandro Michele has mastered it. But, this time it was all a little more, a little bolder and strong. The known seventies geek aura was there. That type of aesthetic is something that is the fountain and the starting point for Alessandro Michele design. The light aura of a modern Woodstock was brought with the tweedy skirts, coats, and blouses. Then there were the long dresses that looked almost like the uplifted version of the nightgowns. The minimalistic cut was boosted with the edgy accessories like big sunglasses, statement earrings or embellished shower caps alike headpieces.
But Alessandro Michele´s sense for design is more than just bold and expressive ensembles. In this collection, he has celebrated the woman´s right to choose when it comes to her body regarding the latest abortion ban in some states in the USA. He has recognized the delicate situation that the world has stepped into so he was, well first of designers from the mainstream scene, to talk about this delicate issue. And he made it in his own way, artistically on point with the long chiffon cream dress with the uterus embroidered on it and with the flowers embroidered in the womb. More symbolistic yet straight and without no fuss could not be!
Of course, that was not the only highlight. As the show was coming to its finale (there were more than nineties looks with the men fashion included too) the references went bolder! The ensemble that looked like an edgy and sassy derivation of the Catholic priests and nuns uniforms were highlights of the show. With gorgeous items hidden under all of it, like cascade ruffled dress or the refined embroidered toga alike cape. This only indicates that with all of that mish and mash there were included some really amazing pieces.
This collection has shown the power of fashion! Yes, the fashion itself is a beautiful channel to communicate, but when it is brought to talk about important things, it is brave and clear! This collection was full of amazing items that will definitely be the IT at your Instagram timeline because of Alessandro Michele impeccable talent! Not just the talent to create and to design, but to make a point! And this collection was all of that and even more!
What do you think about this collection? Is this design something you can relate too and I don´t mean just in the fashion sense?
Thank you for your attention!
