Put on a side of the famous Burberry chic, the latest collection Resort 2020 was "the urban queen meets the edgy savage" kind of vibes. Seems like Riccardo Tisci has opted this concept of Resort to spread more his creative wings that are much more on the playful and witty side of the design spectrum. Burberry is a famous British brand, so iconic and important for British sense of branding itself, so this collection was really a heterogenic spin of that what Burberry could possibly be!
The step from the classic and the famous Burberry print. Riccardo Tisci is no designer who will take the known and secure path. He is famous for the innovative approach to the design and his sense of aesthetic has been working really amazingly with the whole concept of Burberry. In this collection, the moderation was on the loos and the spectrum of pure elegance and urban glamour was in the first place to be seen.
At first sight, the all-black coat ensemble with the fur details on the sleeves looked pretty classic and in the traditional kind of mode. But the interesting realization on the edges with the cape alike visual insinuations has announced that in this collection nothing would be as it looked on the first sight. The mish-mash of the prints in the mostly leopard range has topped this fashion exhibition. Even the mixture of the textures, pleated dress paired with the ruffled blouse looked rather polished than hectic!
The coat or the trenchcoat is definitely the trademark of Burberry. The pure artistic freedom was kept on the long coat printed with wall handwriting alike details. This item was proof of how Riccardo Tisci plays with the traditional on the behalf of streetwear. Nothing can be more urban than a white coat filled with messages like they would be displayed on the wall like a graffiti. The full swing into the streetwear was the biker shorts and the cropped top in the casual and sports mannerism. But of course, for all those Burberry fans who like a good classic piece, there was the camel colored coat aka cape embellished with the new logo of Burberry of for those logo-shy with the leather stripe.
The further step was taken in the more for a night out opted looks. The shiny mini dress with the metal fringes and with the loos waist has undertoned the new direction of glamour by Burberry or Tisci! Even the version of a black "Le Smoking" was edgy. Simple again on the first sight and yet edgy and different with the mini-pelerine sculpted cape on the shoulders. Or the final look, the black dress is worn by Ewa Herzigova who was the star of this editorial, with the crossover shoulders traps on the naked back and high cut wide open on the side!
The power lies in the details and this collection was the real example of it! Stunning yet different, classic yet new and exciting! Riccardo Tisci has not lost his sparkle when taking the high traditional British brand! Nope, he has stepped into the sea of the pure design excitements! And that is the best thing for the brand, the designer and most importantly, for the consumers and buyers!
What do you think about this collection? Do you like the work by Riccardo Tisci for Burberry? Which look do you like the most?
