Sarah Waight Keller has been in Givenchy as the creative director for two years. After the big moment of designing the wedding dress for HRH Meghan Markle seems like the name of this British designer on the top of the famous French fashion house has been boosted and the expectations from her were definitely higher than ever. Seems like Sarah Waight Keller has not been amazed or feared by that fact, so she decided to go further in her artistic designer escapades.
The latest Fall 2019 Haute Couture collection was created in that kind of direction. A little more playful, bolder, sassier and aesthetically different. The hybrid from the already known Waight Keller fashion codes was the mixture of the volume that was on the more sculpted side with the hints of the extravaganza pure in the form of feathers and fringed appliques. The play of the textures and the forms here was satisfied perfectly in the collision with the wearable and factor of approaching directions.
The tweedy materials as we saw it at the beginning of the show with the stiff three-quarter sleeves in the correspondence with the sleek figure and the more casual silhouette. Or the all-the-way explorative bubbly-form on the top of the clean vertical obliques. Seems like the diversity was a huge "Spiritus Movens" for this collection if you ask Sarah Waight Keller. In addition to that was displayed a gorgeous cape-gown in the powdery pink. The monumentality of this ensemble at the almost statuesque kind of way was definitely the highlight of the collection!
The heterogenic approach was kept on the radar with the feathery opulence gown or the two-piece one made from the disco-glitter embellishment jacket and the crinoline alike skirt. The oxymoronic nature of this look was definitely that new kick in the visual sense for the house of Givenchy.
Not to mention the latest ones from the runway, the wedding dress at the very end as the final conclusion of the collection that was totally different from what we could expect, far away from the clean lines and more on the pure Couture side, or the structured gowns featured with the astonishing prints! So many diversities and exciting creations that have set Sarah Waight Keller in the line of the very promising Couturiers! And that is for the world of couture a big thing!
What are your thoughts about this collection? Do you like the work by Waight Keller for Givenchy so far?
Thank you for your attention!
