In the fashion world, there was a big hype when it was announced that Riccardo Tisci will be the next creative and leading designer in Burberry. Burberry is considered the British heritage kind of label which strongly represents the classic British wear so the fact that Riccardo Tisci will be designing for this big global trend has been the most anticipated thing of this year´s London Fashion Week. Because Tisci is known for his strong and up-front aesthetic which follow more modern and trendy style connotations so everyone was excited about Tisci´s vision of Burberry design. And we have to say the choice was perfect.
In this Spring/Summer 2019 Ready to Wear collection, there was the Burberry spirit all around. Seems like for the first edition Riccardo Tisci wanted to follow the traditional and more classy concept of this famous British house. The first opening look has really summed up what this collection and Tisci current vision will be. And that was re-building the famous Burberry style for what it has been known about. The fashion and design elevated version of the trenchcoat in the dark beige with the huge belt. The lack of the two-row buttons here was intense but still so Burberry which was held on in the texture, the silhouette, and the length.
The more developed style but still in the traditional kind of way was kept with the sandy colored ensembles constructed by casual cashmere jumper and flowy skirt. The Burberry spirit was kept on the peek with the shirt made in the famous Burberry print. The more modest and low-key were definitely again the sleek silhouettes garments featured the elegant silky shirt, pencil but still cozy fluent trousers all in camel from head to toe with the classic long coat which was boosted with the golden metal features on the edges. This was definitely an elevated version of the typical Burberry style; the clean and classic cuttings with the mini-interventions for the light edgy spirit ala Tisci!
And here was the point where the braver determinations in the design sense were starting to emerge. The gorgeous coat covered with the pearls and feathers, the black and white polka dots on the mini chiffon dress, the de-constructed version of the black coat with bare shoulders and cropped to the midi length was transformed into the original cut dress. The shiny red parka or raincoat paired with the hoodie and clean shirt underneath with the big gold chain around the neck with the passport aka "past future" details hanging just to accent that conscious fashion momentum of the past and the future which is now in the hands of Riccardo Tisci! That future is bright were there all black dresses to re-insure us. Edgy night glamour with the interesting cut still held in simplicity niche but in the form very experimental and innovative! And that kind of aesthetic we expect that Riccardo Tisci will serve us in the future!
This collection was like the homage to the great British label. With the imperative of easy but Glanz perfect cuts and ideas´ simulacrum in the show with the appreciation of the brand but still giving it his own personal touch which was all over the place at the very end of the show, we have to say that Burberry has once again hit the jackpot, the fashion one! The tradition with the diversity which will keep the old and bring the new fans and Burberry consumers, I mean what else is there to wish for! Maybe in the next collection to see more Tisci but that will come slowly, no doubt to that!
What do you think about this collection? Do you like Burberry style under the creative lead by Riccardo Tisci? What are your thoughts about the possible future design, will it still be very traditional and classic or Riccardo Tisci will have the more creative freedom to enhance his own design signature?
Thank you for the attention!
