There is something romanticly strong and attitude worthy when we talk about Christian Dior fashion with Maria Grazia Chiuri as a leading designer. When we think about the earlier collection of Dior under Galliano of Simons we could not see this hidden sparkle which Maria Grazia Chiuri design is all about. At first, her design looks effortless and easy to wear but if you look deeper into it, you will see the stunning wasteland of the feminine beauty. Because if you ask Grazia Chiuri, all of these "complicated and simple" features are the facets of the woman beauty and her strength.
Lately, the collections by Christian Dior were the spread of the consciousness of the female power and rights. If you were expecting that kind of "parole" frenzy in the latest Haute Couture collection for Fall 2018, well you were wrong! This collection was all about the woman´s beauty in the most refined way. The refined approach was presented in the amazing draped dresses made of the chiffon thin layers and featured with the sculpted upper parts. This light-corset alike form on the top has slightly accentuated the beauty of the woman body. With the thin belt which was the highlighter to the waist and a ball-gown alike form under, the current Dior woman was born.
Not to forget to mention the typical "Parisienne" Couture edition in this collection featured by the wide midi-trousers and the light voluminous blazers with the cape wide sleeves, and the French cap with the net spread over the face. This is what Dior is all about, complimenting the woman beauty in the non-conventional editions like this one for Haute Couture. This "masculine" approach is something which is so characteristic for Grazia Chiuri design. And this attitude has not got risky for Dior general aesthetic. In contrary, it has boosted it even more.
But let us go back to the pieces which were the center of the collection. The dresses which were full of plisse textures giving us the major pleats perfection. The coloristic range was here gentle and light mostly kept in the creme or deep beige spectrum. The one innovation in the visual sense was the floral embroidered prints on the more sculpted dresses. Seems that embroidery is becoming a new thing in the current Dior design aesthetic. Talking about the sculpted forms, the satin shiny dresses with the naked shoulders have been the perfect round up of this collection!
With all the alterations in Dior design, seems that Maria Grazia Chiuri is slowly finding her own design handwrite when the word is about Haute Couture. Her signature has gone from the simple and classy to the ultimately stunning with the plenty of "intertextual" layers. And by those layers, I don´t mean just chiffon ones. A quiet but certain revolution of Dior fashion beauty continues!
What do you think about this collection? Do you like the chiffon dresses and the delicacy of them? Can you tell which is your opinion on Maria Grazia Chiuri´s design for Dior?
Thank you for the attention!
