It has become a must-have for Chanel to present a fashion show at the highest level of inscenation. Seems that Karl Lagerfeld has raised the bar so high giving us with each collection the pure visual sensation almost on the board of the great theatre scene. Karl Lagerfeld loves when the fashion and the fashion collections talk the story. The grandiose story-teller has become Lagerfeld serving us the best looks and trends which in that concept they look even more dazzling and stunning.
Nothing else less was in the case of the Spring/Summer 2019 Resort Collection. With the real ship boarded in the Grande Palais giving us the megalomaniac allures at the Titanic, it was the perfect set up for the Resort collection. Only what the people in the audience could ask themselves will this collection aesthetically finished like Titanic or will it be the total hit. Well, if you follow work of Karl Lagerfeld, then you know that the failure is impossible, so having that on the mind, we need to say that this collection has offered us once again the best of the traditional looks from the house Chanel with the modern and the contemporary twists.
But let's start from the beginning. If you follow the Chanel collections, you know that there are lots of the heterogenic variations of the main and domain theme. In this case, the main highlight was the navy look, since the word is about the resort collection. This look was the first generated one in the form of navy inspired stripes on the wide trousers combined with the simple white t-shirt with the logo prints. Then the second edition of the same variation were chic ensembles inspired by original Coco Chanel looks made of the cashmere two pieces. The Berets were there to give the ultimate French "march on" swing.
Then the total modern influence presented in the multi-ripped jeans, interesting light three blues shade geometric prints which were coloristically kept still in the navy range. The pure Chanel luxury was on the long dresses which have had the airy silhouette. The colors were here stunning too, this time in the powdery pink. With the adorable picnic basket alike shaped Chanel bags, this look was well rounded and simply amazing. Oh, the bags have had here the big role. From the mini ones to the big, tote ones. All in the stunning visual symmetry. The chic casual accent was undertoned with the flats ornamented with the little ancle strap.
Once again, Chanel has not just show the pure fashion show. It was the story-telling focus with the big ship, once again pure and real requisite, which was the perfect starting point to show the beautiful resort collection. Mixing the two streams that is so common for Chanel, the ultra-traditional or the classic one, and the modern one, giving us the two-direction style directions for which every fashion fan could be insired by and could fall in love!
What do you think about this resort collection? What are your thoughts about the big ship? Do you like Chanel shows and their scene?
Thank you for the attention!
